Churches of St. Mary and St. James

Questions Regarding Church Building Project

(May 7, 2007)

Has the diocese made a decision to link us with Verona?  When will this happen?

If we don’t build and we are linked to other parishes, why wouldn’t they come here?

If we build, will we have a priest or even a part-time priest with other parishes?

Will we have one mass here (guaranteed)? What time will it be? (Only one mass?)

Will we still have religious education if we don’t build?

What happens to the money we have already donated if we do not build a new church?

How much of the building fund has been spent already?

Will the current building be ours if we don’t build?

Who decides what happens to the current church if we don’t build?

How much money could we get by selling St. James and St. Mary Churches?

Are the churches assets we can sell?

When does KK plan to retire?

Will there be training done for deacons? Do they have to be men?

If we build, could we start this summer?

Has the diocese given us the official OK to begin?

How much have construction costs gone up?

Can we cut building costs by using volunteer labor and recycled material?

Is the proposed building beyond what we can raise?  Other options to fit our budget?

How much money is needed in total to build this facility?

How much money do we still have to get in pledges?

How much money do we still have to collect?

Do we have a plan to get these pledges and dollars?  Is this realistic—given our history?

Can we get a loan?

Assuming we get the money to build, what about operational costs? Can we afford them?

How many families are in our parish?

How many families from St. James?  St. Mary?

How many families from Belleville?  New Glarus?  Monticello?  Verona?  Other towns?

How many families are participating in the capital campaign at this point?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What happened with the earlier vote?  Were there two votes?  Why don’t we vote again?

Does Findorff have the project?  Was there some kind of open bidding process for this?

How much will our operational costs increase moving forward?  For me—personally?

How does this compare with other parishes?  If we don’t build, will they go up anyway?

Should I be giving more to the building fund or to operational costs right now?
